The following morning I pulled our bags and 2 pillows out to inspect them before bringing them inside there were tiny bugs crawling on the pillows and through out 1 of the bags. Something about that didn't sit well with me when we returned home Thursday I left our belongings in the car because it was dark and I couldn't inspect them. The morning of check out a man at front desk was complaining of bugs in his room stopped us in the hallway and asked if we had seen any which at the time we had not.

I should have known better as soon as the TV wasn't working in the 1st room they gladly transferred us to another. We stayed here as overnight guests on June 29th. Readers should understand that I award a rating of 4 to any chain hotel that meets the chain's standards as I expect them-5 means even better, and lower rating-disappointment Here' there are some missing pieces and other points of excellence which balance each other out.… And best of all, it is right on the river's edge, and by luck we were here on the night of a supermoon with gorgeous weather-the reflection on the river was almost breathraking.

On the plus side-staff was really good and responsive to our needs.Rooms are nice and spacious with a big soaker tub in the bathroom. Photos of the property suggested that there was a furnished back patio with stair access to a small beach, but that furniture is gone and what s at the bottom of those stairs is concrete. Our road-side room gets a lot of exgerior noise-I'm not a light sleeper, but I was awakened in the middle of our first night by some loud metallic sound outside, sounded like a pile-driver. Old-style magnetic-strip door key cards that don't always store a code, and exterior doors that get locked tight at night and they key card won't admit you (and the back door, which overlooked the Huron River, doesn't have a key card reader). What was disappointing-no business center.

So we are enjoying a stay in Huron, where this Comfort Inn isn't quite what I'd expect in that brand. Lately, I can't predict if a Qulaity Inn will be better than a Comfort or if it will be a 1950s stye exterior-door motel with no elevators.

It useed to be that their different brands had predictable levels of service-Clarion was an old-style motel, Quality a little better, Sleep Inn and Comfort wth full amenities, and some upsacel in Ascend and Cambria. I am starting to have some issues with Choice Hotels. We were warning people about the skunk as we figured it was useless to tell the clerk. We did find the skunk walking down the side of the building cute. The view was nice if you got a riverview room, which we did not. It was scary to know that the clerk was handing out keys like candy.

When we returned, the failsafe key would not work! We couldn't get into our room, again! It was ridiculous and we are pretty sure the desk clerk was stoned, as we saw her out by her car smoking something. We Finally got situated and went out to eat. So a fourth trip to the check in desk she gave us the failsafe key to our room. Then we were given a third key which did not work when we finally to our room. Then we were given a second key and as we started to walk away, we were told oh sorry I gave you the wrong room. Imagine our surprise when we open the door to what we thought was our room and found the tv on, suitcase open, lights on. We were given the key to someone else's room. While the hotel itself is okay, the front desk person was clueless.
